Radio Free Burrito Episode Thirty-Nine: The Unearned Bell
wil, · Categories: Games, MusicIt’s late, but for good reasons. Welcome to Radio Free Burrito!
This week, I talk a little bit about my creative process for the Tabletop RPG Show, my D&D 5E campaign, and I ring an unearned bell.
- The logo was designed by WWdN:iX reader Marc, who asked that I not link to his “in progress” website. Thanks, Marc!
- Radio Free Burrito doesn’t work as hard to earn its [EXPLICIT] tag as Memories of the Futurecast did, but it still manages to upset mom and get Twitter breakup messages from sensitive people. You have been warned.
- This week’s theme music is Skulls, by The Misfits.
- Am I the only one who loves The Misfits, but really doesn’t like Danzig’s solo work?
- You can learn all about D&D 5e, and download a bunch of free PDFs of from Wizards of the Coast.
- I love the Doubleclicks, and so will you.
- You can buy your own copy of The Fantasy World for the low low price of one dollar.
- Hank Green’s column at Medium.

Hank says: This complete lack of objectivity and representation in cable news has degraded the legitimacy of news media as a whole. Young people have absolutely no faith in people sitting at desks on television anymore. It’s gotten so bad that the most trusted news show among people under 40 is on Comedy Central. The Daily Show, it should be noted, spends as much time mocking the news media as it does talking about the news, further decreasing young people’s trust of the news. The news is losing an entire generation.
Legacy media isn’t mocking us because we aren’t a legitimate source of information; they’re mocking us because they’re terrified. Their legitimacy came from the fact that they have access to distribution channels and that they get to be in the White House press pool because of some long-ago established procedures that assumed they would use that power in the public interest. In reality, those things are becoming less and less important and less and less true. Distribution is free to anyone with a cell phone and the legitimacy of cable news sounds to me like an oxymoron. The median-aged CNN viewer is 60. For Fox, it’s 68.
- Jenny McCarthy is a dangerous idiot.
- Slightly more consequential than a deflated football, is all I’m saying.
- There’s no new episode next week because I’ll be on a boat
- This week’s show is
194MB and 36 minutes long. 26MB (vbr mp3) and 36 minutes long.
